Top-ranked Duke starting point guard Caleb Foster is out with a fracture in his right foot that will keep him out for an extended period of time, while starting big man Patrick Ngomba II will miss the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament with a foot issue.
Foster suffered the injury in the first half of Saturday’s game against No. 19 North Carolina, and coach Jon Schell said Tuesday that Foster underwent surgery Sunday morning.

“In his mind and ours, we’re going to do the best we can and move forward with our mentality that when the dust settles, we can give him an opportunity to come back,” Schell said.
Ngomba missed the UNC game with right foot soreness and sat on the bench with a boot in the second half of Saturday’s game. Scheyer said the focus is on getting Ngomba ready for the NCAA tournament without the ACC tournament in Charlotte, North Carolina.
