Assassin’s Creed: Shadows appears to be coming to Nintendo Switch 2 soon. A French retailer has reportedly listed a Switch 2 port of the action-adventure game on its website. According to the leaked information, Assassin’s Creed: Shadows will also be released on the platform in the form of a game key card, but controversially, the card does not contain complete game data and requires users to download the full game content to start playing.
Assassin’s Creed: Shadows Switch 2 version leaked
Last week, French retailer Auchan shared box art and other information about the Switch 2 version of Assassin’s Creed Shadows in a now-deleted listing discovered by a Reddit user and posted on r/GamingLeaksAndRumours. The listing doesn’t mention how much the game will cost on the platform, but reveals that it will be available as a game key fob.
“Experience Assassin’s Creed: Shadows in a whole new way with Nintendo Switch 2,” the listing says in French (via VGC).
The Switch 2 Game Keycard does not contain full game data, but instead grants users a key to download the full game online. Therefore, these cards cannot be used without an internet connection. Ubisoft’s Star Wars Desperados is also releasing on Switch 2 as a game key fob.
A removed retail listing suggests that Ubisoft may be close to making an official announcement about the Switch 2 version of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. In July, the French company said that a “new version” of the game was in development and would be released on “other machines.”
In April, a listing on the PEGI ratings website suggested that Assassin’s Creed: Shadows might be coming to Nintendo Switch 2. The PEGI website, which later made the change, listed the Switch 2 as a supported platform for the game in the most searched games section.
Assassin’s Creed: Shadows releases on March 20 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X. The game’s first major expansion, Claws of Awaji, launches on September 16 and is free for those who pre-order the base game. During its first quarter earnings call for fiscal year 2025-26 earlier this year, Ubisoft confirmed that Assassin’s Creed: Shadows has surpassed 5 million unique players.
