We’ve discussed before how Duke and UNC parallel each other in strange and unusual ways. They’re like the yin and yang of college basketball, if it rains in Chapel Hill, it probably rains in Durham.
The University of North Carolina experienced some seriously severe weather Thursday through Friday. Caleb Wilson was considered questionable against Duke, but anyone who’s followed how UNC basketball has operated over the past 50-60 years knows the drill: Key players get injured. He will be absent forever! Well, maybe not forever.

He was really, really hurt! Actually, it’s not that bad.
They’ve been doing it for decades and were about to do it again when Wilson injured his right hand in practice Thursday. On Friday, he underwent an X-ray and it was discovered that he had a broken thumb and was done for the year.
Entering the latest Duke vs. North Carolina parallel: Pat Ngomba is ruled out for Saturday’s game with an apparent foot injury.
This might hit UNC harder than Duke. They won without Wilson but hope to get him back for the game at Cameron. The psychology here is interesting. Are you discouraged? Or will it just annoy them?
As for Duke, Malik Brown can fill in for Ngomba, and while he’s not a big deal, Nick Hamenya is a very stubborn kid who can help out as well.
But if Ngomba can’t play, Duke’s margin of error goes down.
