The Darius Slay era is over, as the talented cornerback announced his retirement via social media after 13 stellar seasons with the Lions, Eagles and Steelers. Slay is a six-time Pro Bowl selection (2018, ’19, ’20, ’22, ’23, ’24) and was named a first-team All-Pro by the Associated Press in 2017.
The Eagles released the Pro Bowl cornerback last spring on a post-June 1 designation. The move saves Philadelphia $4 million in cap space and ends one of the most dominant games by a cornerback in franchise history.

Slay started 14 games in 2024, racked up 49 tackles (39 solo) and led the NFL in pass defense. He also led the team with 13 passes defended, marking the third straight season in which he recorded 13 or more pass breakups. In the Eagles’ 22-10 victory over Green Bay in the NFC wild-card round, Slay caught a pass from Jordan Love with 14:52 left in the second quarter and recorded his first career postseason interception.
