K’Lavon Chaisson has been considered a draft bust throughout his NFL career — until now.
The Jaguars selected Chaisson with the 20th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. After four lackluster seasons (five sacks in 57 games), Jacksonville chose not to re-sign Chaisson, who then joined the Carolina Panthers and was eventually released before he joined the Raiders’ practice squad.

The veteran edge rusher showed improvement in 2024 — five sacks in 15 games — but it wasn’t enough to convince Vegas to re-sign him this offseason. The Patriots then signed him to a one-year, $5 million contract, and Chaisson was worth every penny.
In 16 games this season, Chaison has career highs in sacks (7.5), tackles for loss (10), quarterback hits (18), forced fumbles (2) and pass breakups (2). He also improved in playoff wins over the Los Angeles Chargers and Houston, totaling three sacks and seven quarterback hits.
Chaisson’s success triggered interesting post From Bucky Brooks, a former NFL player who also served as a scout and lead draft expert.
“K’Lavon Chassion is a perfect example of why scheme and environment matter for players, especially first-rounders,” Brooks wrote in an X post on Sunday. “He’s a completely different player with the Patriots than he was as a player in his early years with the Jaguars. The energy, effort and skills have all improved at Northeastern.”
Chaisson now looks like a prime extension candidate for the Patriots, who will enter the offseason with a clear need at pass rush.

We’ll have to wait and see if the two sides can agree on a new deal. For now, Chaisson and the Patriots are focused on Sunday’s AFC Championship Game against the Broncos in Denver.
