NFL owners to vote on Las Vegas Raiders succession plan for Mark Davis

Since Las Vegas Raiders majority owner Mark Davis (who inherited the team from his father, Al Davis) doesn’t have any children, there are some questions about who will take over if Mark dies or decides to sell the team. according to ESPN Seth Wickersham and Don Van Natta Jr. may have answers soon.

“NFL team owners plan to vote on a succession plan for the Las Vegas Raiders that would give Silver Lake co-CEO Egon Durban the option to buy a majority stake in the team from longtime owner Mark Davis, according to multiple owners and team executives with direct knowledge of the situation,” Wickersham and Vannata wrote.

“While sources close to Davies say he has no intention of selling his majority stake, the vote would mean that Durban, as a limited partner, would have the option to buy the club if Davies or his heirs did decide to sell. The owners would then have to approve Durban as the new controlling owner, under league rules.”

Durban and his private equity firm are currently minority shareholders in the Raiders. He reportedly purchased a 7.5% stake in the club back in December 2024, around the same time as Tom Brady. Durban has also been part of the organization’s search for a head coach the past two offseasons and is a board member of Premier League side Manchester City.
