NFL experts pick 4 ideal trade fits for Colts’ Anthony Richardson

Several analysts at NFL.com have selected ideal trade options for Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson.

The Colts and Richardson reportedly mutually agreed to pursue trade opportunities during the NFL Combine. NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe originally reported that the Minnesota Vikings were a team to watch.

Richardson’s agent was also involved in trade talks last week.

The situation the Colts and Richardson find themselves in now does feel inevitable since Daniel Jones was named the starter in training camp last summer. The long-term option for Richardson to return to the Colts’ quarterback position was already confusing, but the path became clearer after Jones’ performance in the first half of the season.

Then, Riley Leonard’s performance against Houston’s excellent defense in Week 18 may give the Colts more flexibility to move on from Richardson, suggesting he can be a capable backup option in Indianapolis.

Richardson has endured injuries and inconsistent play, but his talent is evident. In recent years, in the NFL, we’ve seen second-chance (and sometimes third- and fourth-chance) quarterbacks thrive in new environments. There will be teams looking to see if they can unlock Richardson’s immense potential.
