Four years later, she became the first American woman to win a gold medal in figure skating.

Massport and Delta hosted a special boarding celebration for the doctor.

She told Boston 25 that 70 years later, she still feels like a member of Team America.

“I always feel like I’m skating with them because I remember that feeling,” Dr. Albright said. “I’m tired of looking at them because jumping with them is tiring, but I love it!”

After leaving the Olympics, Dr. Albright graduated from Harvard Medical School and later became a surgeon.

This is a development story. Please check back for updates as more information becomes available.
