CNN obtained newly released footage showing different angles of the 4 minutes before the 37-year-old mother was shot to death Renee Nicole Goode ICE agents in Minneapolis.
CNN Anderson Cooper New footage was shared Thursday night detailing new details but admitting it was “grainy and distant.” Previously released video of the scene was from someone behind the car, closer to the officer and Goode. Goode’s vehicle can be seen blocking the roadway as ICE agents attempt to remove her from the vehicle.
As she turned and drove away, an agent fired three shots, killing her.
ICE officials maintain that Goode used her vehicle as a weapon and that the ICE agents acted in self-defense, a story recounted by local officials including the mayor of Minneapolis Jacob Frey (D) Denied.
The new footage shows the other side of Goode’s vehicle, but from a greater distance. The angle shows a passenger exiting Goode’s vehicle before she swerves perpendicular to the roadway, leaving plenty of room for cars on either side.
CNN has obtained some new videos. Again, it’s grainy and distant, but it shows the full four minutes leading up to the shooting. The photo shows Renee Good’s maroon Honda Pilot entering from the right. 20 seconds later someone exited the vehicle on the passenger side. We don’t know who the man was or why he left the car. We then see her turn and walk vertically across the street, seemingly blocking the road. But as you can see here, space is provided for vehicles on both sides to pass. Finally, a new angle on the federal officer who shot her. He arrived and another Federal SUV pulled up. As the ICE officer briefly returned to his car and then returned, another agent grabbed her door and she began to move forward – again, difficult to see from this angle – before three gunshots rang out in quick succession. It takes four minutes from start to finish. But while the video may be revealing, it doesn’t explain why Renee Goode is where she is or what she’s doing there. That’s not all we don’t know. Somehow, without providing any evidence, the government seemed pretty sure who this woman was and what her motives were.
