Nate Oats praises Alabama guards following win vs. Texas A&M

The Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the Texas A&M Aggies 100-97 on Wednesday night.

The Tide defeated the SEC’s top teams in a thrilling back-and-forth battle that featured both teams’ offenses impressing. Star guard Aden Holloway scored a team-high 20 points in the win, as Holloway has been a vital presence in Alabama’s backcourt every night this year.

Alabama head coach Nate Oats spoke to the media after the game and talked about the Tide’s ability to bounce back from Sunday’s loss to Florida, specifically the Crimson Tide backs.

“I thought our guys responded well to the Florida loss,” Oates said. “There were a lot of turnovers against Florida and I thought our guards did a really good job running the ball. We only ended up with six turnovers. Give A&M a lot of credit, they played hard. They’re a good team and they’re ranked No. 1 for a reason. It’s a good team with good players and I thought they averaged over 15 turnovers in this game, so our guards need to focus.”

The Oats and Tide currently start SEC play with a 5-4 record. Texas A&M is widely considered to be one of the hottest teams in all of college basketball as of late, as the Tide will look to keep the momentum going after their win over A&M.

Alabama will take on Auburn on Saturday afternoon as the Tide improves to 6-4 in SEC play.
