The Michigan football team will return to the field for its first spring practice in about six weeks.
New Spartans head coach Pat Fitzgerald met with the media Wednesday to discuss some key topics, one of which is the upcoming spring practice. According to Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press, Fitzgerald said Michigan State will participate in spring practice for the first time on March 17.

In addition, Fitzgerald said spring training will end with a “fan fest” type event as the final event of spring training. That means Michigan State will once again not host a traditional spring game — a trend that has taken over the entire college football world.
Fitzgerald took over after former Michigan State head coach Jonathan Smith was fired after two seasons. He was hired in early December and has since brought a lot of energy and positive vibes to the Spartan program. Those positive vibes will continue as spring training begins in mid-March.
