MS NOW Ratings Revealed After Huge MSNBC Rebranding

The latest cable news ratings are out, and it’s good news for the recently rebranded MS NOW, the only news network to see growth in total weekly viewers as well as in key demos across primetime and throughout the day.

according to adweekciting Nielsen Big Data + panel data for the week of November 17, MS NOW Average total audience was 1.014 million and 90,000 viewers watched the coveted Adults 25-54 demo during prime time. Compared to the previous week’s primetime average, total viewership was up 5% and the demo was up 6%.

The network is operational throughout the day, Average total audience is 649,000 (up 4% from the previous week) and 60,000 demo viewers (Up 7% from the previous week).

This is the first week since MSNBC changed its name to MS NOW – which stands for “My Source for News, Opinion and the World.” The network’s parent company, NBCUniversal, has decided to spin off MSNBC and other cable networks (including CNBC, USA, Oxygen and E!) into a new company called Versant.

Among all basic cable networks, MS NOW ranked third in total primetime viewers and improved from 12th to 13th in the key demo. The network also remained in third place in total daily viewers, although it fell from eighth to ninth in the total daily demo.

MS NOW’s total audience increased by 54% and primetime demo audience increased by 50% compared to the same period last year. Total viewership also increased by 34%, and total demo day viewership increased by 43%.

The Rachel Maddow Show It continues to be MS NOW’s most-watched program and ranks as the 9th most-watched cable news program of the week, averaging 1.826 million total viewers.

Despite MS NOW’s growth, it still trails Fox News, which averaged 2.121 million total viewers and 189,000 demo viewers in primetime during the week of Nov. 17. Fox News averaged 1.38 million total daily viewers and 121,000 total demo viewers.

Meanwhile, CNN averaged 570,000 total primetime viewers and 103,000 primetime demo viewers. Throughout the day, the network averaged 450,000 viewers for the presentation, including 73,000 for the presentation.
