Capcom confirmed on Wednesday that Monster Hunter Wilderness will go into open beta on all platforms next week. The open beta period for PC (Steam), PS5 and Xbox Series S/X players will last from October 31st to November 3rd. The publisher said PlayStation Plus members will have early access to the public beta test starting on October 28. The open beta will include early parts of the action RPG, including character creation, story trials, and monster hunting.
Monster Hunter Wilderness public beta test announced
Capcom says the open beta for Monster Hunter Wilds will be online-only and feature cross-platform cross-play. “The purpose of this test is to allow players to experience a limited portion of Monster Hunter Wilds and validate various technical aspects such as network load and overall operation before the game’s full release,” the publisher said in the announcement.
In the open beta, players will be able to access the full character creation menu that will be present in the full version of the game at launch. Players will be able to customize their characters multiple times during the beta. Capcom says open beta testers will be able to transfer their character creation data to the full version of the game. The character creation menu will let players create their own hunter and their Palico feline companion.
Beta testers will also be able to experience the opening cutscene and the Chatakabra Hunt, which provides a basic combat tutorial. Additionally, the open beta will include Doshaguma Hunt, where players must defeat the alpha of the Doshaguma pack. During missions, testers will be able to explore locations on the Seikret mount and switch between two different weapon types.
In both missions, players can play online with other players using SOS flares, or request up to three NPC support hunters to join your hunting party. Capcom said multiplayer will support cross-platform play during the open beta.
Players who participate in the open beta will also receive bonus items that can be claimed in the full version of the game.
Public beta testing time
For PlayStation Plus subscribers, the open beta will begin on Monday, October 28 at 8pm PT (Tuesday, October 9 at 8:30am IST). The Early Access phase of the public beta will last until Wednesday, October 30 at 7:59 PM PT (Thursday, October 31 at 8:29 AM IST).
For all other players on Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X, the open beta begins on Thursday, October 31 at 8:00 PM PT (Friday, November 1 at 8:30 AM CST) and ends on Sunday, November 3 at 6:59 PM PT (Monday, November 4 at 8:29 AM CST – adjusted for daylight saving time).
Monster Hunter Wilds will launch on February 28, 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X. The game is currently available for pre-order on all supported platforms.
