MindsEye, Build A Rocket Boy’s third-person action-adventure game, encountered some difficulties at launch, with players reporting serious technical issues. The studio, led by Rockstar Games veteran Leslie Benzies, has issued a statement acknowledging the problems and saying it is “working around the clock” [sic]” to improve PC and console performance. Early Steam user reviews of MindsEye have been “mixed,” with players reporting numerous bugs and frame drops even on high-end PC hardware.

Some players have also posted gameplay clips of MindsEye, highlighting serious and often hilarious bugs, persistent stuttering issues, and crashes. On Wednesday, Build A Rocket Boy shared an update on the game’s performance on the MindsEye Reddit subreddit, saying it would provide details on the upcoming patch in the next 24 hours.

“A huge thank you to everyone who joined us on day one! We know the current minimum spec requirements are very high, but our engineering team is working around the clock to improve performance on mainstream hardware and consoles by integrating performance improvements in Unreal Engine V5.6,” said the development team.

“We will provide an update for Patch 3 with these improvements within the next 24 hours. In addition to the main campaign, we will also value your thoughts on Build.Mindseye.”

The developer is rolling out the Day One Update 2 patch for MindsEye on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox at launch. In a pre-launch update, the studio said the patch will “ensure MindsEye plays as we intended” and includes “key final improvements – gameplay improvements, visual effects optimizations, stability fixes and performance tweaks.”

Building Rocket Boy also promises further post-launch updates and improvements “shortly following launch.”

“We’ve built a foundation that we believe in, and we’re committed to supporting it beyond day one. Our post-launch plan is already underway, with more updates and improvements coming soon after launch, and more to come,” the developers said in the update.

“We want MindsEye to be a game that continues to grow with players, and we’ll be listening closely to your feedback during development. Expect updates, improvements, and tweaks based on what you tell us. Release may be a milestone, but it’s far from final.”

MindsEye launches on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series S/X on June 10th. This sci-fi action-adventure game is set in the fictional near-future desert city of Red Rock and tells the story of Jacob Diaz, a former Special Forces soldier with neurological implants.
