Milton woman charged with animal cruelty

MILTON, Fla. (WKRG) – Milton police say they arrested a Milton woman who ran a dog grooming business and charged her with animal cruelty.

The investigation began on Jan. 12 into allegations of dog abuse at So Pawsh Dog Grooming in Milton, according to a Milton Police Department news release.

Police spoke with witnesses and viewed surveillance video in which Kerree J. Patterson, 37, reportedly struck the coon hound multiple times in the head and back, lifted it by its throat, forced it onto its hind legs, and struck it again.

Patterson was arrested and charged with animal cruelty. She was taken to the Santa Rosa County Jail and later released on $1,000 bond. As part of his release, Patterson is not allowed to keep or care for any animals.

“Animal cruelty is a serious crime, and the Milton Police Department remains committed to protecting animals in our community,” the release said. “The department will continue to take prompt and appropriate action to hold individuals accountable for abuse and neglect to the fullest extent of the law.”
