Charleston has had some unusual struggles early in the season, going 7-6, including losses to Drake, Yale, South Florida and others. However, Counter has been incredible this past week, leading the Cougars to a 2-0 lead and the program’s third straight win heading into the CAA conference.
Last Wednesday, Counter contributed 22 points, 6-of-7 shooting, 2-of-2 three-pointers, 7 rebounds and 6 assists in an 82-78 victory over Citadel. On Sunday, he scored 26 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals to help Charleston resist Northern Kentucky University’s second-half offense 85-74 and record his first career double-double.
Corey Hadnot II – Purdue University Fort Wayne
After a 2-1 start in Horizon League play, Purdue Fort Wayne takes a short break to visit Notre Dame on Sunday. Despite the Fighting Irish’s double-digit advantage at home, the Mastodons pulled off the program’s fourth tally upset ever and first since 2023.

Anias Futrell – Lindenwood
Lindenwood turned Highland Arena into a fortress as the Lions went 5-0 at home during the non-conference period, with Futrell playing a sizable role. He had two wins at home last week and had a career-high performance, even becoming the OVC’s new scoring leader this season.
Last Thursday, he scored a game-high and career-high 36 points on 14-for-25 shooting in a 92-76 win over Western Illinois, to go along with eight rebounds and five assists. It was the most points scored in a single game by an OVC member this season, ranking 20th nationally, and 8-for-13 shooting in three games tied Lindenwood’s program record.
