Michigan State to hire Alabama’s Nick Sheridan as next OC

The Michigan State football team reportedly has a new offensive coordinator. The new Spartan is a former Wolverine.

New Michigan State head coach Pat Fitzgerald plans to enter the College Football Playoff pool and hire Alabama co-offensive coordinator Nick Sheridan to take over MSU’s game-calling duties, 247Sports reports.

The Saline, Mich., native shared responsibilities with JaMarcus Shepard, now OSU’s head coach, in running Karen DeBoer’s Alabama offense.

The Crimson Tide advanced in the CFP with a 34-24 victory over Oklahoma State on Friday. Sheridan served as DeBoer’s tight ends coach in Washington in 2022 and 2023 after five seasons in Indiana.

He spent two seasons as the Hoosiers’ offensive coordinator in 2020-21 and played quarterback at Michigan under Rich Rodriguez. In Rodriguez’s first season in 2008, he played eight games on and off with Steven Threat as the Wolverines went 3-9.
