Miamisburg has submitted a letter of intent to the SWBL and provided notice to the GWOC of its intention to seek admission to the new conference in October 2025.

Miamisburg athletic director Jason Shade confirmed the area was rejected by the SWBL.

“We are a member of the GWOC,” Schade said when asked if the school would try to join other leagues.

Bellbrook athletic director Charlie Odell said SWBL athletic directors have “little to no support” for Miamisburg joining the league, as early as the 2027-28 calendar year. He added that he believes Miamisburg or other schools may be more favorably considered to join the league in the future.

SWBL officials had no comment when Cox First Media attempted to contact them.

Most team sports in Miamisburg currently compete at the Division II level under the OHSAA’s seven-level structure. With the exception of Northmont, all other GWOC schools are DI schools.

The SWBL Southwest Division includes Bellbrook, Edgewood, Franklin, Monroe, Ross and Talawanda and competes primarily in D-II and D-III. The eight other schools that make up the SWBL Buckeye Division – Brookville, Carlisle, Dayton Christian, Eaton, Middletown Madison, Oakwood, Waynesville, Valley View – compete in D-IV and DV.

The OHSAA lists Miamisburg’s enrollment for the current two-year cycle starting in 2024 at 1,137 students, including 587 boys and 550 girls. This is the lowest total among the eight GWOC member schools. Centerville has the highest total enrollment at 2,014.
