Miami Dolphins releasing sack artist Bradley Chubb

The Miami Dolphins are planning to waive edge rusher Bradley Chubb, league sources confirmed.

Chubb, 29, had 22 sacks in three seasons at Miami.

The former Dolphin acquired Chubb in November 2022 in a deal that included a first-round pick to the Broncos.

Chubb missed the 2024 season with a torn ACL.

Chubb is an outstanding team leader and was named the 2025 Miami Dolphins Man of the Year by local media.

Chubb was also named the team’s 2025 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year for his contributions to the community.

Miami Dolphins release Bradley Chubb in salary cap adjustment

This is a salary cap related decision. The Dolphins are also widely expected to release Tyreek Hill and release Tua Tagovailoa, assuming they can’t trade him.

If Chubb is designated for release after June 1, he will have $20.2 million in cap savings.

If he hadn’t designed a version after June 1, the entire popular version would have been implemented in 2026.

The Dolphins’ edge-rushing group includes Jop Robinson and Derrick McClendon.

Miami traded Jaylan Phillips to the Hawks at the trade deadline last season.

Miami will definitely be looking for an outside linebacker/rusher in the first three rounds of the NFL Draft.
