The Seattle Mariners are coming off a great season, but they’re looking to take the next step this offseason. They have some key players on the open market, such as Jorge Polanco and Eugenio Suarez.
However, they could also make some upgrades to the bullpen and are expected to do so. Specifically, they are looking for a left-handed reliever, and luckily, there are quite a few available to sign.
Mariners urged to find left-handed reliever to help shore up bullpen
Hoby Milner is an interesting left-handed reliever on the open market. He spent the 2025 season with the Texas Rangers, appearing in 73 games and posting a 3.84 ERA in 70.1 innings.

What sets him apart from other left-handed relievers is his arm slot. He throws the ball from the low 3/4 position, which can be difficult for left-handed hitters to catch.
Adam Jude of The Seattle Times pointed to Milner as a good option for the club this winter.
“The Mariners are prioritizing another left-handed reliever to complement Gabe Speier, who set a career-high in 76 regular-season appearances this year. Milner, who plays for the Rangers through 2025, signed a one-year, $2.5 million contract.”
Milner pairs well with Gabe Speyer and can take the bullpen to the next level. However, with his walk count increasing last season, it could be something he wants to work on in the offseason.
