Man walks out on his bar tab; comes back the next day because of a forgotten phone charger

A man was arrested early Tuesday morning after walking out of the bar of a local Largo restaurant, according to the Largo Police Department.

Benjamin Rakel reportedly ordered food and drinks totaling $64.18 at Largo Whiskey Wings on Sunday night and then left after telling employees he didn’t have the money to pay. Rucker provided debit and credit cards as security, which had no money on them, according to the affidavit, and told the employee he would be back the next day.

Police said Rakel, 23, returned to the restaurant late Monday night to retrieve a cell phone charger he had forgotten at the restaurant during the crime. Largo police were called around 12:20 a.m. Tuesday and arrested Rakel.

After Miranda asserted his rights, Rucker reportedly told police he had a Cash App debit card but that he did not provide the card to the restaurant, but the affidavit did not say whether there was money on the card to pay for the night’s food and drinks.

Lakel was charged with obtaining food by deception. He remains in custody at the Pinellas County Jail.
