Man detained in Brown University shooting from Wisconsin, CNN reports

According to a report by CNN on December 14, a shooting at Brown University killed at least two people and injured nine others. The detainees were from Wisconsin.

CNN’s John Miller, citing multiple unnamed law enforcement sources with knowledge of the investigation, said the suspect traveled from Wisconsin to Rhode Island to carry out the shooting.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has not independently confirmed CNN’s report.

The Journal Sentinel reached out to a spokesman for Gov. Tony Evers on Dec. 14 to ask if he was aware of the situation but has not yet heard back. A spokesman for the Wisconsin Department of Justice did not immediately have any information.

Providence Police Chief Capt. Oscar Perez said the suspect is a man in his early 20s. Officials have not released his name.

Authorities are not currently looking for anyone else in the case, USA Today reported.

At about 4 p.m. on December 13, a shooting occurred in an engineering building at an Ivy League university. The door was unlocked and final exams were in progress.

Officials have not yet released the names of the shooting victims. Providence Mayor Brett Smiley said at a news conference on the afternoon of December 14 that officials had not yet notified all the families of the victims.
