Manchester City and Arsenal are still competing for the trophy this season. The League Cup is a chance to lift the first major trophy of the season and potentially inflict a psychological blow in the title race.

Arsenal are currently 6 points ahead of second-placed Manchester City in the standings. Both teams advanced to the last 16 of the Champions League and the fourth round of the FA Cup.

The League Cup final will be held on March 22.

Omar Marmouche’s two first-half goals at the Etihad Stadium effectively beat Newcastle in the semi-finals, with City leading 2-0 from the first leg. Tijjani Reijnders added another before the break.

Newcastle United got a consolation through substitute Anthony Elanga and prevented what looked like a collapse after the first 45 minutes.

Arsenal beat Chelsea 1-0 on Tuesday to advance to the final with a 4-2 aggregate score.
