Mamdani Reportedly Scraps CBS Interview After Bari Weiss X Post

reported on Thursday vanity fair Newsletter, New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani (D) reportedly pulled out of talks to appear on CBS after editor-in-chief posted ‘nail in coffin’ X post Barry Weiss.

According to McLaughlin, “two people familiar with the matter,” including a former CBS producer, told him that Mamdani was in talks to star in ” Roberto Costa’s cbs sunday morning newsdespite his team’s concerns about Weiss’ comments.

But those talks were put on hold after Weiss published a post on February 28 promoting comments by CBS about Iranian dissidents and journalists Masi Alenejad.

In the video, which Weiss retweeted with a fire emoji, Alinejad took issue with Mamdani’s statement in late February in which he argued that military activity with Iran “marks[s] A catastrophic escalation of an illegal war of aggression,” quipped that the New York mayor was “more than welcome to one of my safe houses.”

According to McLaughlin’s sources, the article was a “nail in the coffin” for Mamdani and his team, with the former CBS producer adding, “Barry and her people clearly had ill intentions toward him.”

“It’s not just Zoran,” the source added. “It’s hard to get people to come to CBS right now.”

CBS News correspondent says the news only seems to add to turmoil at the network Scott McFarland He announced his departure this week after becoming “disillusioned” and “shocked” by the publication under Weiss’ leadership.
