Transfers were an expected outcome at the start of the Lane Kiffin era at LSU football, especially given the amount of turnover on the Tigers’ offense. Most of the team’s departures so far have been depth players rather than future building blocks, but Wednesday’s transfer announcement highlighted one of those potential building blocks.
Former five-star offensive lineman Carius Curne, who plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal when it opens on Jan. 2, could be the first 2026 starter to decide to leave Baton Rouge.

While Kiffin is notorious for his ability to acquire talent through the transfer portal, it may be difficult to find a replacement as young and talented as Cohen.
This is evidenced by On3’s latest transfer portal rankings, which rank Cohn as the eighth-best player in the portal.

Cohen appeared in seven games as a true freshman for the Tigers, starting five. As is often the case with true freshmen facing SEC talent, Cohen’s performance was inconsistent. Cohen allowed just one sack and three sacks against Mississippi State and Alabama, but those numbers rose to six sacks and two sacks against Arkansas and Texas A&M.

Although Coan struggled in pass protection against Arkansas, he showed some flashes in the run game, as shown below.
There’s always a chance LSU can convince Cohen to return to Baton Rouge after testing the open market, but that seems unlikely. That feels especially true considering Brad Davis, the coach who recruited Cohen, didn’t stay on Kiffin’s staff.
