After spending about a month in the transfer portal, Santana Wilson has found a new home. The Arizona native signed with Louisville on Friday with three years of eligibility remaining. While the former three-star recruit’s time with the Longhorns is coming to an end, he will now have a chance to shine in a new system.
The Desert Hills High School alum redshirted his freshman season but did not receive any playing time. He finally made his debut in the 2025 season, appearing in two games. In a limited sample size, Wilson recorded two total tackles. His college debut came against Sam Houston, which Texas won 55-0.
Coming out of high school, expectations were high for Wilson. He is rated the 140th best prospect in the country by 247Sports. He also had offers from Washington State, Wisconsin, Arizona State, Oklahoma State and Baylor before joining the Longhorns.

Although things didn’t go as planned at Texas, Wilson brought valuable experience with him. The former Longhorn knows what it’s like to play for a program filled with expectations. When he gets to campus, he’ll be motivated to prove why the Cardinals made the right move adding him to their secondary.
Although the Longhorns lost a lot of pieces in the portal, they have been busy refining their roster. New additions include Dylan Sikorski, Zion Williamson, Larick Brown and Michael Masunas. With plenty of talent left on the board, the list should continue to grow.
For Wilson, the focus now is to put himself in the best position to make an impact for the Cardinals. If he can play a bigger role, the Cardinals defense will be in good hands.
