Latest injury update on Bears LT Ozzy Trapilo isn’t good news

The Chicago Bears have been plagued by injuries throughout the 2025 season, including losing promising rookie left tackle Ozzy Trapilo to a ruptured patellar tendon in their wild-card playoff win over the Green Bay Packers.

It’s a potentially career-altering injury for Trappillo, who looks ready to cement himself at left tackle on one of the NFL’s best offensive lines. Trappillo has been thought to be out for an extended period of time, and an update from general manager Ryan Bolles confirms that. But he sounded encouraged by his recovery.

“He’s going to miss most of the year,” Poland said at the NFL Scouting Combine, via CHGO. “…But we want him to come back and be himself.”

According to Jason Lieser, the Bears are exploring left tackle options internally, in free agency and in the NFL draft. But that doesn’t include moving All-Pro left guard Joe Thuney to left tackle. This is a short-term option, as seen in the divisional playoff game against the Los Angeles Rams.
