The deal between Laremy Tunsil and the Washington Commanders, which becomes official today, makes him the first offensive lineman to earn $30 million.
Tunsil’s new contract extension includes a $32.5 million signing bonus, the largest at his position. Last season, the Commanders sent four draft picks to the Houston Texans in exchange for Tunsil.

Tunsil proved his worth last season, ranking second in pass interceptions while allowing just two sacks and 15 quarterback pressures in 14 games with Washington, according to Pro Football Focus. His teammates had nothing but kind words for him after he left the Texans.
“LT is a great player. He’s one of the best left tackles in the league,” said former teammate running back Joe Mixon. “He does everything the right way and prepares the right way every week. The guy is a monster and a great person. I love everything about him.”
“Skill is important to him — always being in the right position,” Las Vegas Raiders center Tyler Linderbaum said of Tunsil’s game. “Then you see his physicality and the strength he plays with. He can do a lot of things that other people can’t do based on his physicality and strength.”
After a shaky start entering the NFL, Tunsil has continued to prove his worth at the position and has been a great teammate along the way.
