The Formula 1 race was held in China and ended with the first victory of his career. Kimi Antonelli and the Mercedes No. 12 team claimed their first victory of the 2026 Formula 1 season by winning the Chinese Grand Prix. Antonelli won easily, beating Russell with little to no worries in the process.
The 19-year-old’s form in the 2026 Formula 1 season has been impressive; however, not all of the Mercedes power units are thriving. Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris were unable to attend the Chinese Grand Prix due to sudden electrical problems, causing McLaren to miss the entire event. Piastri hadn’t even completed a warm-up lap in either race.
Antonelli, on the other hand, proved to be a legitimate title contender. Through two races, Antonelli is second in the standings, just four points behind Russell thanks to Saturday’s sprint. Antonelli will never forget his first victory in China and he hopes to carry that momentum to Japan in two weeks.
