Close-up photos of Caroline Leavitt suggest she may be one step closer to a full Mar-a-Lago makeover.
In Vanity Fair’s explosive report on Trump’s inner circle, the 28-year-old White House press secretary dubbed “The Mouthpiece” by the media appeared to show the injection site on the edge of her vermilion lips, a visual nod to the nickname.
“It’s surprising to see someone with these dark spots on their face,” said Sam Escobar, senior editor at The Looker, a beauty, health and wellness website for The Daily Beast.

“I do think they were probably trying to cover it up a little bit,” Escobar noted, referring to the lip gloss on Levitt’s lips. “Instead, it had the opposite effect, it just caused it to have more of a highlighter effect, which is why it looked more dramatic,” she continued.
Social media users expressed similar sentiments after Vanity Fair posted a close-up photo of Levitt taken by photographer Christopher Anderson to its official Instagram page.

“Injection marks from lip fillers,” one user commented on the post with a laughing emoji, and many more chimed in. “Why would they use a photo like this?” another user replied, while a third added: “On purpose.”
The Daily Beast has reached out to a representative for Anderson for comment on the photos but has not received an immediate response.
The photo isn’t the first time this month that attention has been paid to Levitt’s lips.

Speaking in Pennsylvania earlier this month, President Donald Trump, 79, paused from a speech about the economy to comment on Leavitt’s “beautiful face and those lips that don’t stop like a little machine gun.”
Since Trump returned to the White House in January, plastic surgeons in Washington, D.C., say they’ve seen an increase in clients seeking the “Mar-a-Lago face” — a face shape characterized by fuller cheeks, fuller lips, tight, smooth skin and, some say, a full face of makeup, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Jeffrey Lisiecki told The Huffington Post.
The Daily Beast was unable to confirm whether those accused of having “Mar-a-Lago faces,” including Matt Gaetz, Laura Loomer, Kristi Noem, and now, in the early stages, Levitt, have turned to plastic surgeons or other cosmetic procedures.

“Her upper and lower lips definitely appear fuller in this interview,” Dr. Jennifer Harrington, a board-certified plastic surgeon and adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota who commented on Leavitt’s fuller lips in a September interview with Fox News, told the Daily Mail.
Harrington suspected the press secretary had lip fillers, adding that the “subtle” appearance of Levitt’s lips in the interview clip felt like “only 0.5 to 1 milliliter of filler was injected into each lip to make it look natural.”
“When you first get your lips done, they may look uneven—it takes a little time to settle down,” Escobar says, noting that “bruising and swelling” are common after fillers are injected into the lips. “My guess is it was either done recently or she’s just a slow healer,” she added.
In an interview with The Looker, Dr. Dara Liotta, a double-board-certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon in New York City, recommends that it’s best to have filler surgery at least three months before a major event, such as a wedding or a Vanity Fair shoot.
“What I would probably do is put concealer on her lips and then use lip liner and then put a dark lipstick on her,” Escobar said.
Unlike the Vanity Fair cover photo, in which VP J.D. Vance joked that “he’d pay $100 if you made everyone look worse than me,” Levitt didn’t appear to ask for dark lipstick or concealer.
The Daily Beast has reached out to Levitt’s rep for comment on the alleged lip injection marks in the photo, but did not immediately receive a response.
