KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City International Airport (KCI) was evacuated Sunday morning due to reports of a “potential threat,” a spokesman confirmed.
At around 11:15 a.m., after a threat was reported, parts of the airport were instructed to evacuate as a precaution.
At this time, there are no details on the nature of the threat; however, airport police are working with the FBI to confirm the report. The Kansas City Aviation Department said it was aware of the situation.

The road leading to the airport entrance from Interstate 29 is blocked. All cars were redirected to mobile parking spots as federal and local authorities investigated.
A KCI spokesman said the airport allowed entry but not departure.
KCI video showed passengers standing or sitting outside the airport with their luggage.
Currently, there is no word on when the evacuations will be lifted.
