Kay Trump has revealed that she avoids politics “totally,” but she believes the country would be better off if President Donald Trump and Kamala Harris “met in the middle,” which would lead to both sides constantly arguing and fighting online, pushing people to extremes rather than nuance.
Trump made the remarks during a conversation with Logan Paul on his Impaulsive Podcast, which circulated in a TikTok video in which Paul pressed her on her backlash against her grandfather and asked her what she thought of her political opponents.
“I’m pretty good at not letting those things bother me.”
The video begins with the group asking Trump if the hate, backlash or drama associated with “President Trump” has ever affected her.
“Honestly, I’m pretty good at not letting these things bother me,” she said, attributing the mentality to her upbringing and describing her family as “very difficult.” Trump noted that her strength was “infectious” to her.
Kay Trump admits that some moments still sting, revealing that negativity makes her “a little uneasy.” Still, she describes her overall approach as letting it “roll,” rather than treating social media as a place where every comment should be responded to.
Paul responded that she might now be “thick-skinned”. Trump agreed: “Oh, yeah.”
“To be honest, I’m not involved in politics at all.”
Mike changed the subject after asking Harris if his grandfather was an “action man” when he ran for a second term.
“To be honest, I’m not involved in politics at all,” she said. “I would never run. Like, I don’t want anything to do with politics because I feel like politics is a very dangerous thing.”
Trump said that even though she stayed away from political involvement, she still believed there was value in compromise.
“I think everyone would be happier if both sides met in the middle,” she said.
Trump viewed her “middle-of-the-road” arguments as a response to what she said was the “radical left” and “radical right” becoming “too extreme.”
Trump argued that platforms can shape what users see, making their feeds “really one way or the other,” leaving little room for the politics of in-between.
She said the absence could “drive some people crazy” and could encourage others to “believe too much”.
“There’s no hate,” but “I’m going to support my grandpa.”
Trump also rejected the idea that political competition automatically translates into personal hostility.
“There’s no discord,” she said, adding that she’s “very much in the middle” and “that’s it.”
She noted that Trump and Harris were “against each other,” but said her position remained rooted in family: “Obviously I would support my grandpa, my family.”
Paul ended by praising her maturity, telling her that her ability to “see both sides and understand the nuances” is difficult for a lot of people, especially online.
Trump agreed with its core philosophy, and Paul summed it up bluntly: “It’s dead on the Internet.”
