Alabama junior shortstop Justin LeBlanc hit two home runs as the Tide swept Florida State this weekend. His first long ball Saturday was the 40th of his career at Alabama. LeBron became the second Alabama player in history to hit 40 home runs and steal 40 bases in his career. Former Bama outfielder GW Keller, who has 50 home runs and 53 stolen bases, is another member of the club.
LeBron is halfway through his third season with 41 home runs and 45 stolen bases (46 attempts). LeBron hit 12 home runs as a freshman, 18 as a sophomore and 11 as a junior. Keller’s 50 career home runs tie him with Doug Duke for second, behind Andy Phillips (61).

With more than 30 games left in the season, LeBron could conceivably move up to the top two in both categories. Phillips’ home run record and Emile Salem’s 77 career stolen bases seemed out of reach. As of today, LeBron ranks sixth in home runs and 11th in stolen bases. Phillips and Salem both played four seasons at Capstone, and LeBron, who was teased as a top-five pick in this summer’s MLB draft, will leave at the end of his third year.
