Information officers with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department in San Bernardino, California confirmed to PEOPLE on July 24, 2023, that the coroner ruled the actor’s official cause of death “undetermined.”
Sands’ death was classified as such because of his deteriorating medical condition, according to the official.
“This is common when dealing with such cases,” the official said.
