BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Josh Hubbard scored 15 points, Quincy Ballard scored 13 and Mississippi State beat LSU 80-66 from the start on Wednesday night.
Mississippi State shot 60 percent from the field in the first 10 minutes, outrebounded LSU 17-5 and outrebounded LSU 30-10. Later in the half, the Bulldogs went on a 13-3 run to lead 44-17. At halftime, the score was 44-21.

Seven minutes into the second half, LSU chased the score to 58-42, and then Epps hit two three-pointers. Mississippi State went on a 10-2 run and the Bulldogs led 68-44.
With about 10 minutes left in the second half, the team’s largest lead was 72-46. LSU held the deficit to within 20 points in the final six minutes, including the final five points of the game. It was the closest the game had been since the first half with 12 1/2 minutes left.
Max Mackinnon scored 15 points, Dedan Thomas Jr. and Rashad King each had 14 points and Pablo Tamba added 10 points for LSU (13-8, 1-7 SEC).
Ja’Borri McGhee scored 11 points and Sergej Macura added 10 points for Mississippi State (11-10, 3-5).
