Comedian John Mulaney announced Thursday that he will not perform a stand-up show at the Minneapolis Armory this weekend. The decision comes after an ICE agent shot and killed Renee Nicole Good on Wednesday.

The comedian vowed to honor tickets for this weekend’s show later in April and directed his fans to process refunds at the point of purchase or Ticketmaster.
“I’m sorry to everyone who’s disappointed,” Mulaney continued. “I know a funny stand-up act can be a great distraction, but I don’t like putting anyone at risk.”
After the shooting, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey called on ICE agents to “get out of the city,” saying they were “causing chaos and distrust.”
“They are tearing families apart, causing chaos in the streets and in this case, they are actually killing people,” he said. “This was a reckless use of power by an agent that resulted in someone dying, someone being killed.”
The Department of Homeland Security, which oversees ICE, said on X that “rioters began blocking ICE officers” and that “one of the violent rioters armed her vehicle and attempted to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them – an act of domestic terrorism” as the reason for the death.
The White House confirmed that version of the story, with J.D. Vance calling Goode’s death “a tragedy of her own making” during a press conference Thursday. Donald Trump similarly had a White House aide bring a laptop to an Oval Office interview in an attempt to prove to reporters that Goode had run over ICE agents before being shot.
Reports from journalists and eyewitnesses refute this claim.
