Chief Minister Omar Abdullah praises J&K cricket team’s success in Ranji Trophy

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday congratulated the Jammu and Kashmir cricket team on their historic performance in the Ranji Trophy.

“On behalf of myself and the people of Jammu and Kashmir, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all of them. I hope the day is not far away and we will see Jammu and Kashmir players playing a very important role in the national team,” the Chief Minister told reporters.

J&K created history by defeating Bangladesh Cricket Team by six wickets in the semi-finals. This was their first Ranji Trophy semi-final and the win was seen as a major milestone in their domestic cricket journey.

Omar Abdullah congratulated the players, coaches and support staff on behalf of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The chief minister said the achievement inspired young sportspersons across the Union Territory and reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening sports infrastructure and nurturing emerging talents.

He said the team’s progress over the past few years reflects continued hard work, discipline and strong guidance from the coaches and support staff.

“Our team has made impressive progress. This result is the result of the hard work of the players, the guidance of the coaches and the dedication of the support staff.

Abdullah said: “Winning the Ranji Trophy is not something that one individual can do alone; it is the success of the entire team and support staff.”
