Nearly a decade ago, Jeffrey Epstein claimed that “some people” feared Donald Trump might be suffering from dementia because he was allegedly unable to recognize old friends.
Epstein expressed his concerns in a Dec. 29, 2017 email to journalist and Trump biographer Michael Wolff, which was released by the Justice Department along with millions of other documents from its investigation into the late financier and convicted sex offender.
in email landslide The author sent the letter during Donald’s first term as president of the United States, and Epstein wrote: “At dinner with Donald last night, some worried about dementia. Heavy makeup. No recognition of old friends.”
Epstein is not the first high-profile figure to speculate that the 79-year-old president is suffering from signs of dementia.
According to former Trump deputy Steve Bannon, before resigning as White House chief strategist in August 2017, he allegedly believed the president was suffering from “early stages of dementia.” 60 minutes Producer Ella Rosen’s book ticking clock.

According to Rosen, Bannon claimed that Donald “was inattentive, didn’t read and now doesn’t listen. He said Donald often repeated himself and told the same story minutes after he had told it before,” but the former chief strategist later denied this.
The producer also claimed in the book that “Bannon was trying to drum up support to remove Trump” out of concern.
One of Donald’s relatives also expressed concerns about his mental health and behavior, citing the family’s often-ignored history of dementia.
In an interview with People magazine ahead of Donald’s second inauguration in 2024, Fred C. Trump III said his uncle’s recent behavior reminded him of other Trumps who have faced cognitive health challenges, including the president’s late sister and father. At the time, Donald’s campaign dismissed the interview as “completely fabricated and completely fake news.”
“Like everyone else, I saw his decline. But I think it was parallel to my grandfather’s decline,” Fred told People at the time. “If anyone wants to believe that the Trump family does not suffer from dementia, that is not true.”
As for Donald’s relationship with Epstein, the president was reportedly friends with the late sex offender in the 1990s and early 2000s, and has since claimed that he eventually cut ties with the billionaire financier and was unaware of his crimes. He also denied any inappropriate behavior during their previous friendship.
In a 2002 interview New York In the magazine, Donald spoke highly of “amazing man” Epstein, who died by apparent suicide while awaiting trial a month after he was arrested in July 2019 and charged with sex trafficking of minors.
“I’ve known Jeff for fifteen years. Great guy,” he said of Epstein at the time. “He was fun to be around. It was even said that he liked beautiful women as much as I did, and many of them were young women. There is no doubt that Jeffrey enjoyed his social life.”

Donald also appears in documents related to Epstein released in recent months.
Some photos from Epstein’s estate released by the House Oversight Committee in December showed Donald with a group of women whose faces were blurred. Another image released at the time showed a set of “Trump condoms” for sale depicting the president’s face in cartoon form.

After the photos were released, White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson said in a statement to People magazine that “House Democrats have once again selectively released photos that were carefully selected and randomly edited in an attempt to create a false narrative.”
Jackson continued at the time: “The Democratic hoax against President Trump has been exposed time and again, and the Trump administration has done more for Epstein’s victims than Democrats have ever done before, repeatedly calling for transparency, releasing thousands of pages of documents, and calling for further investigations of Epstein’s Democratic friends.”
She added: “It’s time for the media to stop repeating Democratic talking points and start asking Democrats why they want to be around Epstein after he was convicted.”
