At a raucous Narendra Modi Stadium, Bumrah smashed New Zealand’s chase with a devastating four-wicket haul, becoming the first-ever fast bowler to bowl four in a T20 World Cup knockout match. His figures of 4/15 not only broke new ground in the history of the tournament but also helped India register a crushing victory of 96 runs in the final.

The milestone also allowed Bumrah to surpass Sri Lankan great Lasith Malinga to become the most successful pacer in the history of the T20 World Cup. Bumrah now has 40 wickets in 26 matches, surpassing Malinga’s total of 38 wickets in 31 matches. Only a handful of spinners, including Shakib Al Hasan, who leads the leaderboard with 50 scalps, are ranked higher than him overall.
