Jared McCain easily wins NBA All-Star celebrity 3-point contest

Well, any worries about Jared McCain being attacked for losing to a non-NBA player in the Celebrity Three-Point Contest can be put to rest. The 21-year-old easily won Friday night’s event sponsored by StateFarm.

It’s been a crazy few weeks for McCain. He was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder before the NBA trade deadline. Even though he only played a few games with his new team, he was getting used to the heightened expectations for the Larry O’Brien Trophy.

Before the Thunder entered the sprint phase, the league took a collective vacation with the 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend. Part of the weekend extravaganza is the NBA Celebrity Three-Point Contest at the NBA Crossover Convention Center.

McCain emerged victorious. He scored 12 points in the final. Anchor PlaqueBoyMax scored 10 points. Both advanced from the first round, which featured six contestants.

In the first round, McCain took the lead with 11 points. PlaqueBoyMax finished second with 9 points. NBA analyst Richard Jefferson and BMX athlete Nigel Sylvester each scored seven points; Druschi scored five points; Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams scored four points.

The NBA All-Star Game highlights the league’s best players, but more importantly, it allows the multibillion-dollar league to highlight its corporate sponsorships. Injuries capped a quiet weekend for the Thunder. Chet Holmgren was the lone representative, with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Ajay Mitchell sidelined with injuries.
