House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) was pressed by reporters on Monday, shortly after the Epstein conspiracy. Ghislaine Maxwell pleads the fifth time during her closed-door congressional hearing.
As Cuomo met with reporters in a congressional hallway, one reporter asked: “We know from the Epstein dossier that Ghislaine Maxwell was not telling the truth. She was moved to an open prison and now she’s asking for leniency so she can speak. Was it a mistake to move her to that prison? Should she be moved back?”
“I don’t know the rationale for moving her from one person to another,” Cuomo responded. “But you see, initially she asked for immunity from the oversight committee, and when we met with Epstein’s survivors, it became clear based on the survivors’ accounts — you know, we had more than 20 members in that meeting — that Maxwell was a very bad person and she committed a lot of crimes.”
Comer continued:
It seemed to me that when we left that meeting, our intention was, in a bipartisan way, that we would not grant immunity. Now, what she said today is that she asked the president for clemency, so I personally, for the reasons you just stated, don’t think she deserves any type of immunity or clemency. But, obviously, as more documentation is read and understood, we’ll go from there.
But, I’ll end with this. I think it’s great that the Department of Justice is allowing members of Congress to come in and see all the redacted versions of these documents. minister of justice [Pam] Bondi is doing what she should have done with the House Oversight Committee subpoena and the Epstein Transparency Act. So, I think we’re going to finally get some answers, and ultimately, we’re going to achieve our goal in this hearing and get justice for survivors.
