james carville Sticking to his pointed criticism of Rep. Ilhan Omar (Minnesota Democratic Party) urged her to leave the Democratic Party, arguing that she and others did not take white male voters seriously enough.
Cavill joins Stephen A. Smith on SiriusXM straight shooter On Wednesday, Smith asked about a video circulating on social media in which Cavill blasted Omar for his comments about white people.
“Ma’am, why don’t you quit the Democratic Party?” Carville said of Omar in a video released in May 2025. political war room podcast. “Honestly, start your own movement.”
Omar, the longtime Democratic strategist, told Al Jazeera in February 2018 that “our country should be more afraid of white people because they are responsible for most of the deaths in this country.”
In response, Carville said Omar should form his own party and caucus with Democrats. He added that lawmakers like Omar “cause more trouble than they’re worth.”
Asked what made him so “angry,” Carville praised Omar but defended her and other Democrats like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) has done Democrats no favors in terms of winning over voters.
He argued:
I met her once and, first of all, she was a very charming, soft-spoken lady. I have a lot of friends in Minneapolis, and people thought, a lot of people thought very well of her, but she started attacking white men and I was like, wait a minute, let’s stop. All right. In 2024, 72% of voters will be white. OK? This is just a fact. Of these 72 people, approximately 48% or 48-and-a-half were male. I did the math and about 33% of the voters were white men. Well, attacking 33% of the electorate is stupid. You don’t want to start there. You know, all you have to do is start and build up. So I say to Congresswoman Omar, why don’t you become a Democratic Socialist of America? Do what AOC did, and then if they win, the fact is, I share a lot of ideological issues with Congressman Omar, but maybe you should do it like a parliamentary government. We will put you in the governing coalition, but not in the electoral coalition.
Carville added that you “won the election without a white male.”
“It’s just crazy. It’s actually mathematically crazy, culturally crazy,” he said.
Cavill continued: “I feel like one of the biggest failings of people is ‘people of color,’ and that disgusts me. Does that mean all non-white people are the same? No, all white people are different. All black people are different. All Hispanics are different… Their values are very different, everything is very different.”
