The 26-year-old initially spoke about last weekend’s draw with Sunderland on Wearside and throughout December, saying he was pleased with his team’s performance.

“But I think we all felt it was possible to get three. But, yeah, we took it. We were there [a good run] Now we’re just looking forward to the Liverpool game and hopefully continue that.

“I think maybe in the past we should have had better results than we ended up with. But I think the performance was there and we have to continue like that.

“We thought it was a positive result, 3-3 in the end. We had to have a calmer game at Anfield to get the result we wanted.”
