Jaguars WR Jakobi Meyers agrees to 3-year, $60 million extension after midseason trade

Jakobi Meyers was originally loaned to the Jacksonville Jaguars at the trade deadline. Now it seems that he will stay for a while longer.

Meyers and the Jaguars agreed to a three-year, $60 million contract extension on Thursday, NFL Network reported. The deal reportedly includes $40 million in guarantees.

The 29-year-old was scheduled to become a free agent after this season, having initially been a member of the Las Vegas Raiders. He requested a trade from the team in the offseason and was eventually traded to Jacksonville at the trade deadline.

The Jaguars gave up fourth- and sixth-round picks for Meyers, getting a reliable receiver. Meyers, who had his first career 1,000-yard season in Vegas last year, has 707 receiving yards this season, 355 of which came in six games with the Jaguars. His tenure in Jacksonville also coincided with a 5-1 record as the team led the AFC South with a 10-4 record.

With an average annual value of $20 million, Meyers ranks 25th among current wide receiver contracts on OverTheCap, behind only Tampa Bay Buccaneers star Mike Evans.
