“Public safety is our top priority heading into Super Bowl X. We have been in daily contact with the NFL, which has confirmed the following information with the Department of Homeland Security,” the memo explains. “ICE has no plans to conduct immigration enforcement operations related to this. The memo added that “the Department of Homeland Security will have federal agents at the Super Bowl to ensure the safety of fans” and that “federal security personnel will be present at the Super Bowl.” [Super Bowl LX] This is consistent with past Super Bowls and similar to how the Department of Homeland Security protects other major sporting events such as the Olympics and World Cup. “
However, the Department of Homeland Security was unwilling to rule out ICE enforcement actions related to the Super Bowl.
“The Department of Homeland Security is committed to working with our local and federal partners to ensure that the Super Bowl is safe for all participants, just as we do with every major sporting event, including the World Cup,” Assistant Secretary of State Tricia McLaughlin said in a written statement, Musk reported. “Our mission remains unchanged. We will not disclose future actions or discussions. The security of the Super Bowl will require a comprehensive government response consistent with the U.S. Constitution. Those who are here legally and have not violated other laws have nothing to worry about.”

That’s a broad statement (and an inaccurate one, given recent events in Minneapolis). That means working to arrest those who are here illegally.
