‘It was like a movie:’ Seattle man recounts viral moment of suspect carjacking WSP trooper

A Seattle man watched a suspect steal a Washington State Patrol boat off Interstate 5 on Christmas morning.

The dramatic video he shot went viral after it was sold to TMZ.

“I can’t believe this happened. It was like a movie,” Beau Stone said.

Stone told KIRO 7 he was watching from his patio when he noticed a man crossing the northbound lanes of I-5 and immediately feared for everyone’s safety.

“It was like, this guy is going to die eventually. You know what I mean? Shoot. Or he’s going to kill somebody. That’s my reaction,” Stone explained.

But what happened next left him speechless.

Stone’s video shows a police officer pulling up to her car to check on the man. Suddenly, the situation escalated.

“He jumped into the northbound lane and ran up to the officer’s car, grabbed the handle, pulled her out of the car and threw her,” Stone described.

The suspect jumped into the driver’s seat and sped away, leading police on a miles-long pursuit along the highway.

“There were 30 or 40 officers heading north. And then they turned around there and headed this way. So it was pretty big,” Stone said.

The pursuit ended after officers used a PIT maneuver to stop the stolen cruiser.

Miraculously, no one was injured in the incident. But Stone knows how differently things could have turned out.

“Other people on the road, who knows? You’re putting a lot of people at risk. Hopefully you can get some help,” he said.
