A former Florida Gators quarterback will become the next head football coach at Shore Island High School in Florida.
According to social media posts, Justin Midget Announcing that he has accepted the head coaching position at Island Coast. Midgett redshirted as quarterback at the University of Florida in 2003 and 2004.

“I’m excited to announce that I have accepted the position of head football coach at Island Coast High School. Let’s get to work,” Midgett said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
In high school, Midget was rated one of the nation’s top quarterbacks and was named to the Class 4A all-state first team.
During his senior season at Charlotte (Punta Gorda, Fla.), Midgett threw for 2,489 yards and 21 touchdowns while leading the Tarpon to the state semifinals in 2002. Midget passed for 1,653 yards and 18 touchdowns during his junior season in 2001.
Now, Midgett is tasked with turning around an Island Shore football program that has struggled over the past decade and has topped the .500 mark just once since 2014, when the Gators went 6-4 in 2020. Prior to this, Island Shore last posted a 10-3 record in 2014.

The Gators have lost in 10 of 11 seasons, experiencing three one-win seasons during that span.
Island Coast finished last season with a 1-9 record and was ranked No. 480 in the state according to the 2025 Florida High School Football Massey Rankings.
