The 2021 Indian Premier League auction is set to take place in Chennai on Thursday, but it’s not like the big two-day IPL auctions you’ve seen in the past. This year’s IPL auction will last for several hours, with a total of 292 players available for selection by the eight IPL 2021 teams (Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad). SRH has the fewest number of player slots remaining (3) as they have retained many of their existing players, while RCB has the highest number of vacant slots (13).
IPL 2021 Auction Date and Start Time
The IPL 2021 auction kicks off on Thursday, February 18, at 3 pm (IST) in Chennai. Estimated running time is approximately six hours. There will be a post-auction showing at 9pm IST.
IPL 2021 Live Auction
The live broadcast of the IPL 2021 auction can be watched on Disney+ Hotstar, the official broadcaster of IPL. Disney+ Hotstar will let you choose from five languages: English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.
You can watch the IPL auction on TV through Star Sports 1, Star India’s main sports channel. The IPL 2021 auction will be available in the same five language options as Disney+ Hotstar. You need to switch to the appropriate Star Sports 1 channel.
IPL 2021 Schedule
When does the cricket match start you ask? After the 2020 IPL season was postponed to September due to COVID-19 last year, the 2021 IPL season is expected to return to its usual April-May venue. Most importantly, BCCI is confident that IPL 2021 will be held on Indian soil instead of being held in the UAE last year.
Mumbai Indians will enter the 2021 IPL season as two-time defending champions. IPL 2021 was initially planned to increase to 10 teams again, but due to the epidemic, BCCI chose to postpone it to the 2022 IPL season.
