Apple’s iOS 9 includes several new iPad-specific features, including split-view multitasking. This feature allows you to run two apps side by side in split-screen view. This is the first time true multitasking is available on the iPad, which will delight productivity enthusiasts.
We should point out that split-screen view is currently only available on the iPad Air 2, iPad Pro, and iPad mini 4. However, with split-screen view, you can do things like read a book while researching a topic, or write an email while browsing Twitter. Here’s how to enable split view.

1) Open an app that supports split-screen view. This is true for most built-in apps like Mail and Notes. Some third-party apps like Twitter have also added support for this, and it’s likely more will do so in the coming days.
2) Swipe from the right edge of the screen. This will open an app one-third of the screen away.
3) Swipe down from the top on the right side (where the secondary app opens). This will display a list of applications.
4) Select the app you want to run in split-screen view (such as Safari or Twitter).
5) Now pull the black bar towards the center of the iPad screen. You can move the divider bar to resize the app.
If you have an iPad Pro, iPad Air or later, and iPad mini 2 or later, you can also multitask using Picture-in-Picture mode on iOS 9.
1) To use this feature, open the video app and start playing any video.
2) Now click on the Picture-in-Picture button in the bottom pane (see screenshot below) or just press the Home button while the video is playing.
3) Now the video will start playing in a small window and you can move it around the screen while continuing to use other applications.
You can even resize it to make it larger or smaller, or even temporarily slide it off the screen so that only a small part is visible. This is useful if you want to take notes or browse the internet while watching a video.
