The Fisher Freighters opened the 2026 Indoor Football League season with a 45-27 victory over the Quad-City Steamers on Saturday night at the Fisher Events Center.
Cargo quarterback Felix Harper threw two touchdown passes — both to C.J. Windham — and another touchdown to beat the defending Eastern Conference champions. Fisher controlled the game for most of the second half.
Steamboat quarterback Daquan Neal threw four touchdowns and two interceptions.

Windham scored early in the final quarter to put the Freighters ahead 38-27. Fisher defensive back Marcus Gray then came up with one of the best defensive plays of the game, sacking Neal for a safety and a 40-27 advantage.
Fisher’s Calum Sutherland shot to extend the lead to 16 points with 3:58 left in the game. Sutherland then drove through the uprights for two more points to put the Freighters ahead 45-27.
The Freighters led 31-27 in the final quarter, which was a typical tug-of-war in the league.
Harper rushed for 1 yard and scored a touchdown. The Freighters led 24-20 at halftime. Harper also passed for a touchdown in the first half.
Neal threw for three touchdowns in the first half.
